Dutch Bros backed out, but Maricopans may still get to fuel up at that same plot near Walmart.
Circle K is looking to meet the demand for gasoline in town, this time on the northeast corner of Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and Stonegate Road, according to Maricopa City Manager Rick Horst.
The city manager briefly mentioned the proposed gas station during an economic forum hosted yesterday by the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce at Southern Dunes Golf Club. His presentation also hinted at other development projects in the city.
If approved by city planners, this could be Maricopa’s fourth Circle K and the only gas station along Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.
Circle K previously proposed constructing a location on the northwest corner of Smith-Enke and Porter Roads. However, city officials have not confirmed if this project was approved.
The 5,200-square-foot gas station would have 12 fueling stations and sit on just over an acre of the nearly two-acre lot originally planned for Dutch Bros Coffee and Chili’s. What will sit on the remaining land has yet to be confirmed.

“I talked to our construction, real estate and development team, and they said we don’t currently have a second location coming up in Maricopa at this time,” said Dutch Bros spokesperson Brenna Bryan.
