Maricopa City Council said yes to liquor licenses for two upcoming restaurants during a meeting Tuesday evening.

The licenses for Nando’s Mexican Café and WZ Asian Bistro were included in the council’s consent agenda, which was unanimously approved without further discussion. The two restaurants are still in various stages of construction.

Nando’s Mexican Café is a family-owned restaurant that is planning to open its fifth location by fall 2023. It will be located at 44460 W. Edison Rd., between IHOP and Planet Fitness.

Marijka Anderson, director of operations for Nando’s, said that despite setbacks, the restaurant is looking forward to opening in the coming months.

“Yes, we are excited,” Anderson said. “It’s been pushed back several times, but we know for sure we’ll be (ready) by November.”

WZ Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar was first announced in March and will be located in the Cobblestone Fiesta Shopping Center, at 21756 N. John Wayne Pkwy., Ste. 101. The location was previously occupied by a dry-cleaning service and measures approximately 2,500 square feet.
