For a new juice bar in Maricopa, grand opening went smoothie — ahem, smoothly today.

InMaricopa announced California-based Nekter Juice Bar would open a Maricopa location early this year. The all-natural, on-the-go café finally opened its doors to the public this morning.

Nekter is located at 44360 W. Edison Road near GNC, which opened last week in a brief spate of health-conscious offerings to cut ribbons in Maricopa.

Owners Brilda Supiek, Jeff Supiek and Mike Ries said they wanted to bring healthier options to the food scene in town.

“Looking around at all the fast-food, non-healthy options, we wanted to bring a healthy concept to the city,” said Mike Ries.

The juice and smoothie bar also serves açai bowls and offers juice cleanses.

While Nektar has plenty of signature items to choose from, everything is customizable, Ries explained.

“We can mix and match anything,” he said.

Starting today, Nektar is open every day of the week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
