One of three Circle K gas stations proposed in Maricopa has new ideas about where it wants to pump petrol. This, after homeowners considered a petition to deny the new gas station near the entrance to their neighborhood.
The Tempe-based fuel giant once again proposed constructing a new location in the city, this time on the southwest corner of Smith-Enke and Porter Roads, according to public records obtained by InMaricopa this week.
The gas station will consist of 16 fuel stations with a 5,200-square-foot convenience store and anticipates hiring at least 12 employees for the store.
The business in December proposed building the gas station on the north side of Smith-Enke. It did not disclose in the new documents why it is opting to move across the street. The move would, however, put the gas station a handful of yards farther from the concerned homeowners.
One resident in The Lakes at Rancho El Dorado shared his concerns with InMaricopa earlier this year about the location, saying he was considering starting a petition to nix the gas station near his northside neighborhood.
Tom Williams sent an email to members of the Maricopa City Council in January stating he and several of his neighbors wanted the location to be denied. He cited a potential negative impact to the area due to increased traffic, noise, crime and health concerns.
