The O’Jon Terrace Apartments project at Honeycutt and Porter roads has been canceled due to the rising costs of construction, Kent and Chrystal O’Jon announced Friday.

The COVID-19 pandemic drove up lumber and supply prices by millions of dollars more than they were willing to pay, the couple said in a news release.

The 27-unit development had been planned as a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartment homes on the east side of Porter Road, just north of Sunrise Preschools.

The O’Jons had hoped to set aside units in the small multi-family complex for veterans in transition, they said, adding they will continue to seek development projects in the city and surrounding areas.
