Phoenix cops follow wanted man into town

Details were released about a heavy Phoenix police presence in town today.

A man accused of selling drugs in Phoenix sped away from local authorities. He brought them to a Maricopa neighborhood, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Phoenix PD responded around 5 p.m. to a call near 51st Avenue and Southern Road, according to Sgt. Brian Bower, a spokesperson for the department.

The caller said a man and woman were selling drugs out of a car in the area, Bower said.

Cops found the vehicle and tried to contact its occupants.

“The driver put the car in gear and pulled away from officers,” Bower said.

Because it was deemed a dangerous situation, a Phoenix police chopper followed the driver into Maricopa, the spokesperson said.

The car stopped at Adobe Circle in the Cobblestone Farms neighborhood. Cops took the man into custody without incident. They did not specify what happened to the woman involved.

The man, whom police did not identify, was transported to a hospital for precaution, according to Bower. He will be booked into Maricopa County jail when he is discharged.
