Dave Fowler was one of many Maricopans who brought his kids to meet Maricopa’s finest last night.

Maricopa Police Department served the community a free slice of Papa Johns pizza during its Pizza with Police event at Maricopa Library & Cultural Center yesterday.

Fowler and his kids, Angelique, 4, and Matthew, 7, moved to Maricopa from Phoenix last year. He said the event was a good opportunity to meet the local police force.

“You don’t see this in Phoenix,” Fowler said.

Maricopa Police Chief Goodman estimated 100 to 150 locals came to the event.

“Might have been a bit more since people were able to cycle through over the duration of the event,” he said. “There were 15 to 20 officers who stopped by the event.”

Maricopa’s favorite police dog, K9 Karma, also made a guest appearance to the delight of many.

“The event was fantastic and offered some great opportunities for officers to meet and build relationships with the people we proudly serve each day,” Goodman said.
