Maricopa Police Department will serve the community free slices and fun tonight.

Locals who attend Pizza with Police at Maricopa Library & Cultural Center, 18160 N Maya Angelou Dr. from 5 to 6:30 p.m., will earn a free slice of ‘za and a chat with local PD.

“Events like Pizza with Police is a great opportunity for community members to interact with our police officers in a relaxed environment,” Police Chief Mark Goodman told InMaricopa.

This is the third open-community event since Goodman took the reins at Maricopa Police Department ten months ago.

The event is a spinoff of Coffee with a Cop, which was held in April last year. Residents enjoyed a hot brew while talking to officers.

It was followed by Cops and Cones in August, where police, kids and their parents indulged in some free ice cream. “You can’t give coffee to kids,” Police Officer Adam Abel said at the event.

“One of my goals for the police department is to continue to build and maintain trust with our community, and this event is part of our ongoing community policing efforts,” Chief Goodman said of tonight’s event.
