(First InMaricopa) The man who allegedly gunned down his relative in Rancho Mirage last night has been identified as 46-year-old Thomas Crew.
Police told InMaricopa that Crew shot a relative at a home on Montserrat Street around 6:30 p.m.
The victim is “expected to survive,” said Monica Williams, spokesperson for the Maricopa Police Department, though Police Chief Mark Goodman hinted in an op-ed published this morning that the person’s “life [is] altered forever due to serious injury.”
People with knowledge of the shooting said they believed the victim was shot in the face. Police have not confirmed that detail.
Crew, who moved to the Phoenix area from Southern California, had no apparent history of violence in a broad search of California and Arizona court records. He is listed as the manager of a healthcare company out of Maricopa, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He was booked on several felony charges, Williams said. “Formal charges will be decided by the Pinal County Attorney’s Office,” she added today.
A 52-year-old woman related to Crew lives at the Montserrat Street home, according to public records. She previously had a different last name, but now shares the surname Crew. InMaricopa is withholding her full name pending confirmation that she was the person shot.
According to public records, Crew lives on Hillman Drive in The Lakes at Rancho El Dorado — the same street where two people exchanged gunfire Tuesday, though in Rancho El Dorado, a different subdivision. There is currently no reason to believe the shootings are connected. We’re awaiting more information about that shooting.
Through police reports released today, InMaricopa can determine that Crew was not connected either to a Wednesday night shooting in Rancho Mirage on the same block on nearby Nina Street. More information on that case will be reported soon.
The investigation into last night’s near-fatal shooting remains active.
