UPDATE: We obtained dash cam footage of the arrest. Watch it here.

A serial drunk driver is facing multiple DUI charges after allegedly speeding past a state trooper, swerving through a Maricopa neighborhood and crashing into a parked car Tuesday night.

Just after 8 p.m., Arizona Department of Public Safety Trooper Z. Morgan was traveling eastbound on Honeycutt Road at 50 mph — slightly above the 45 mph speed limit — when a blue Toyota Highlander sped past him, according to a probable cause statement obtained by InMaricopa.

The Highlander, driven by Steven Lindor, 47, reportedly veered into the trooper’s lane and continued swerving. As they approached Hartman Road, Trooper Morgan activated his emergency lights and attempted a traffic stop. Lindor allegedly didn’t stop and turned onto Costa Del Sol Boulevard in the Tortosa neighborhood.

He then turned onto El Greco Street, where he lives. He reportedly attempted a U-turn and sideswiped a parked car. By the time Maricopa police officers arrived, Lindor was already in custody.

During a post-Miranda interview, Lindor told officers he was “just driving around the neighborhood” and admitted to drinking a Heineken beer right before getting behind the wheel. He denied using prescription drugs or marijuana.

Police reported a “strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath and person.” They also noted his speech was badly slurred, and his eyes were red and watery.

Trooper Morgan conducted a field eye test before Maricopa officers administered additional sobriety tests. Officers noted multiple signs of impairment during all tests.

Authorities later discovered Lindor’s driver’s license was suspended. He has prior DUI convictions in 2022 and 2023, elevating the current offense to aggravated DUI. Court records show Lindor also pleaded guilty to an extreme DUI in Scottsdale in 2010, with a blood alcohol concentration found to be as high as .19.

Lindor was booked Tuesday into the Pinal County jail on four charges of DUI, including two aggravated counts, for suspicion of having a blood alcohol concentration above .08. He faces more than 36 years in prison.
