The Pinal County Health Department inspected 16 Casa Grande eateries in January, handing out perfect scores to all.

Those inspected included Francisco Grande Restaurant, 2684 W. Gila Bend Highway, Manuel and Ruperto, 1300 N Pinal Ave, Subway, 1000 W. Gila Bend Highway, Tommy’s Bistro, 913 8th St., Subway, 2820 N. Pinal, McDonald’s, 2824 N. Pinal Ave., Peter Piper, 1355 E Florence Blvd., Burger King, 810 E. Florence Blvd., Papa Murphy’s, 1485 E. Florence Blvd., Bosa Donuts, 1659 E. Florence Blvd., Chili’s Bar and Grill, 1532 E. Florence Blvd., Macayo’s, 1564 E. Florence Blvd., The Gym Bar and Grill, 1601 E. Florence Blvd., Big Red Café, 1334 E. Florence Blvd., and Big House BBQ, 104 E. 4th St.

Despite the perfect scores the above restaurants were not without violations.

Manuel and Ruperto received a warning for improper holding temperatures, McDonald’s was warned for failure to maintain proper levels in their sanitization buckets and Chili’s received notice to fix damaged cooler door seals.

Health inspectors conduct random inspections aimed at ensuring that all the proper steps are being taken to maintain consumer safety, Pinal County officials said. To that end, the department can issue violations that are either critical or non-critical. Critical violations must be fixed within 10 days and affect a location’s score. Non-critical violations must be fixed within 90 days.

Grades are based on the number of violations, with an “E” for excellent, being the highest possible score an establishment can receive. Other scores are: “S” for satisfactory; “U” for unacceptable; and “N” for needs improvement. The three restaurants cited by the department all received scores of “S.”
