A gas leak in Desert Passage led Maricopa emergency services to evacuate four homes as a precautionary measure, according to a city spokesperson.

Maricopa police, fire and medical units responded to a gas leak near the intersection of Lococo and Alma Streets around 2 p.m.

At about 4 p.m., InMaricopa staff could smell the leak from police barricades at the intersection.

Monica Williams, spokesperson for the city’s emergency departments, said the leak was contained by Southwest gas at about the same time.

Lococo Street is blocked between Alma Street and Davis Drive. As a detour, take Davis Drive to Smith Circle.
