5-year-old boy found dead in canal

The body of five-year-old Nathaniel Richard Grosso was recovered from the Central Arizona Project canal at the intersection of Highway 84 yesterday, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

Gross was last seen alive Sunday around 10:30 a.m. by his mother at their residence in the 800 block of South Ortega outside Maricopa’s city limits.

His body was transported to the Pima County Medical Examiners Office, Forensic Science Center in Tucson for an autopsy. This incident is under investigation.
