Last weekend, Juniper Holmes was crowned Maricopa Idol champion at Ramsey’s American Grill (see pictures at right). Holmes, who sang Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable,” won a trip to Rocky Point along with the coveted bragging rights June 30. The finals concluded a nine-week “Idol” season at Ramsey’s and saw Christine Morzella take second place and Don Raflik and Marcelina Lopez tie for third.

This weekend the local restaurant/bar will host a ’70s party in celebration of Saturday’s 07-07-07 date. The festivities will be from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. and include a Dress Like the ’70s contest and music by DJ Twist.

Across the street, a night of karaoke will take place at Native New Yorker from 9 p.m. to close on Saturday. Native will also have poker Sunday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.

A $10 entry fee will get you in The New HQ’s Friday pool tournament, which starts at 8 p.m. Chaka will be playing there Saturday from 9 p.m. to close.

Live – and free – entertainment will be provided at Harrah’s Oasis Lounge Friday and Saturday nights with rock and variety music featuring Jimmy Crespo, formerly of Aerosmith.
