The first baby born at the new Banner Ocotillo Medical Center in Chandler is a Maricopa boy.

Laquinta and Clarence Fisher welcomed baby Jax at 2:02 a.m. Tuesday, according to the hospital. He weighed 6 pounds and 13 ounces and has three siblings.

Laquinta started labor quickly and didn’t have time for her midwife to arrive.

Opened Monday, The four-story, 240,000-square-foot hospital Banner Ocotillo is starting with 124 patient beds. It offers women and infant services, including labor and delivery – with the ability to care for babies born at 32 weeks and older.

Other services include emergency care, intensive care, endoscopy, cardiac services, imaging and surgical services.

The hospital is on the southeast corner of Alma School Road and the Loop 202/Santan Freeway.
