Man arrested at gas station on multiple drug charges

A man is accused of trying to hide drug paraphernalia March 25 after officers ran a records check on the parked vehicle he was in and learned he had a warrant out for his arrest.  

Elijah V. Celaya was arrested and booked into Pinal County jail on suspicion of possession of narcotics, use of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and aggravated DUI. He was also booked on a pre-adjudication warrant, police reported. 

According to a probable-cause statement, officers saw Celaya sitting in the vehicle at Circle K, 21212 N. John Wayne Parkway, with the keys in the ignition. He was reportedly holding a lighter and a cut straw with residue and had a piece of tinfoil on his lap with fentanyl marks on it. 

Police reported Celaya appeared to be unaware of their presence and emergency lights. Officers opened Celaya’s vehicle door, and Celaya reportedly tried to hide the paraphernalia. He was arrested. 

Officers reported finding two blue M30 pills, which police labelled as fentanyl, on Celaya’s lap, and a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue in the driver’s side door panel. 

Celaya told officers that he had a bag of fentanyl pills on the driver’s-side floorboard. Police found a black bag containing 31 fentanyl pills, metal foil with fentanyl marks, and a rolled dollar bill. 

According to Maricopa police, Celaya was processed for aggravated DUI, and officers obtained samples of his blood for testing. Results have not yet been released.
