Motorists are starting to see some relief at the pump. This week, the statewide average dropped almost 3 cents to $3.682 per gallon, making it 2.4 cents below month-ago prices.

Nationally, prices fell almost a nickel to $3.645 per gallon, which is almost 14 cents below month-ago levels.

“It’s still too soon to say whether retail prices have peaked for the spring, because refinery maintenance is still being completed,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “However, Arizona finally is seeing its prices dip. … Barring unforeseen circumstances, we predict prices to continue to drop in the short term.”

Tucson and Scottsdale hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.458 and $3.827 per gallon, respectively. Wyoming and California hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $3.325 and $4.048 per gallon, respectively.
