Ak-Chin part of Indian Festival

The Arizona American Indian Tourism Association (AAITA) will host the Arizona Indian Festival Jan. 29-31 at the City of Scottsdale Civic Center Mall. The family-friendly event will include a full schedule of distinctive and traditional culture and resources to showcase the diversity of the American Indian Tribes of Arizona.
 
The 2015 American Indian Festival is presented by the Arizona American Indian Tourism Association and Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. The free event is a unique opportunity to experience authentic events, activities, entertainment and an arts and crafts market.

The Ak-Chin Indian Community and the Gila River Indian Community, both partners of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee, will participate in the festivities. The Ak-Chin Ba’Ban Keihina Traditional Dancers will perform on Wednesday, 2-2:30 p.m., on Verizon Super Bowl Central at the Pepsi Hyped for Halftime Stage. The Ak-Chin Band also will perform on Thursday, 2-2:30 p.m.  

Events and activities for this festival will include speaking and interacting with tribal elders, story-telling of ancient legends, colorful social dances, authentic American Indian foods, traditional dwelling and demonstrations from Arizona’s best American Indian artisans with traditional and contemporary Native American music.
