The Ak-Chin Indian Community will host an Arbor Day tree planting and seed exchange Friday at Milton Antone Memorial Park, 46851 W. Farrell Road.

The free event begins at 9 a.m. at the park, located on Farrell and Smith roads on the Ak-Chin Indian Community. Children will take part in a seed exchange, followed by planting three ficus trees with elders from the community.

The seed exchange is part of a permanent installation in the park that will allow tribal members to share seeds from their personal gardens. The box was donated by Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino and decorated by youth at the Ak-Chin Child Development Center.

The event will conclude with lunch and performances by Ak-Chin basket dancers and Aaron White on Native American flute and acoustic guitar.
