The votes are in, and the results have been tallied.

Rusty Akers of Community of Hope and Ed Borromeo of Global Water have both been elected to serve three years terms on the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Their terms will expired in December 2011.

Akers and Borromeo will join the returning board members: Mark Molus, Bill “Waz” Wasowicz, Sheriolyn Curry, Anthony Snider and Keith Kirkman.

At the first meeting in January, the board will select officers. “In addition and adhering to the bylaws, an alternate board member will also be appointed,” said Executive Director Terri Kingery.” The alternate will be voted on from the remaining five board candidates, who are:

Dick Barkley, Barkley Consulting Group, Inc.
Amanda Gabriel, AmTrust Bank
Adam Gaub, Maricopa Monitor
Bob Gillespie, Benchmark Home Loans
Dr. John Donohue, A1 Health & Wellness

According to Kingery, “It was a close election with approximately 40 percent of our current membership voting.” Voting officially closed on Dec. 11.

The two men will serve three year terms on the eight member board that is responsible for voting on policies and promotions that benefit current local businesses and promote the growth of future businesses.

“We are excited to welcome the two new members aboard and look forward to the contributions they will make,” said Kingery.
