The Maricopa Chamber of Commerce has been chosen as the city’s first location for an Arizona Workforce Connection Access Point.

The new resource for members of the community is meant to assist local job seekers with their search. Features in the Access Center will allow residents to increase their portfolio and expand their job range.

“Access Point locations give local job seekers free access to computers with internet to further their job search,” Maricopa Chamber of Commerce president Marla Lewis stated in the announcement. “These computers enable job seekers to apply for jobs, create or update cover letters and resumes, apply for public assistance programs and get connected with a One-Stop Center.”

The goal of the Arizona Workforce Connection program as a whole is to provide members of various Arizona communities with leadership and direction. Their hope is to establish a quality workforce system. By opening these different Access Points around the state, the program extends their reach of services to a wider audience.

The Workforce Arizona Council (previously known as the Governor’s Council on Workforce Policy) was created after the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 was put into effect. The federal law was designed to improve the quality of each state’s workforce, and reduce welfare dependency of the nation.

The council offers Arizona residents Access Points, training programs, and “One-Stop” Service Centers. The various resources allow residents to maximize their job search and hiring potential.
