Local Ace Hardware owner Mike Richey will be involved in the 25th edition of El Tour de Mesa bicycling event April 11.

El Tour de Mesa is an annual event that raises money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Riders choose to take on 72-, 28-, 11- or 6-mile challenges. The event is meant to appeal to any skill level, and all participants are welcome.

Richey got involved in the event through his work with Ace Hardware. Ace National has a longstanding partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. For local owners like Richey, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital is their Miracle Network partner.

Richey's staff member Matt Long will be riding in the event.

“We seem to get more involved with the [Phoenix] Children’s Hospital every year,” Richey said. “Last year the Ace Champion came from Arizona, so we brought him in the store. This year, we’ve set up [kiosks] in the store to help raise money for the event.”
