Maricopa Police Department is investigating a death after a woman cutting through Santa Rosa Wash under Smith-Enke Road discovered a dead male body this morning. The woman called 911 at 7:49 a.m.
Police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Judd did not know whether it was a suicide, the man fell from the bridge or if foul play was involved. “We’re just doing preliminary crime scene investigating right now,” Judd said as detectives took pictures and searched for evidence about 9:15 this morning.
He said it would be a couple hours before they move the body and the medical examiner arrives from Pima County.
Smith-Enke Road is currently closed between Santa Rosa Drive and Vintage Road. “We’ll open it up before 11:00, hopefully,” Judd said.
