The Friends of the Maricopa Public Library hosted its annual book sale at Santa Rosa Elementary School and offered participants tremendous deals on books to raise money for the public library.

Consumers were able to purchase as many books as they could fit in a bag.

The event started at 8 a.m. Saturday morning. The initial price for a bag of books was $8, and a box of books was $15. At 10 a.m., the prices were cut by 25 percent to $6 for a bag and $12 for a box. At noon, the prices dropped one more time to $4 for a bag and $8 for a box before the event closed at 2 p.m.

“You can find really good deals for cheap,” Maricopa Public Library Manager Erik Surber said. “It’s $6 for a bag of books. Children’s books are sold by the pound. We have lots of music CDs and lots of movies. Those are sold individually, but lots of good deals.”

Each year, the Friends of the Maricopa Public Library raise thousands of dollars for the public library during their book sale. The event is the largest fundraiser for the Friends organization each year.
