“I am a realist painter using various forms of still life to produce my oil paintings,” Bruns explains on her Web site – https://www.marybrunsart.com. “I refer to many photographs and real life scenarios to create these pieces. No photo-transfers are ever done on my painted, charcoal or graphite images. I use a traditional glaze over glaze free-hand style of oil painting.”

A 1971 graduate of the University of Nebraska with a degree in art and art education (K-12), Bruns received her first master’s degree in printmaking in 1982 from Cal State Los Angeles followed by her second master’s degree in painting from the same institution in 1985.

Bruns’ Recent Work will be on display at the CAC Visual Arts Gallery from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday.
