Phoenix-based Banner Health will officially acquire Casa Grande Regional Medical Center on June 9, according to a CGRMC press release. The Casa Grande hospital will be renamed Banner Casa Grande Medical Center.

“This is certainly a momentous occasion for us in this community,” said Rona Curphy, president and CEO of CGRMC. “The residents of Casa Grande and our surrounding communities will still get the exceptional patient care and service that they’ve always received and we’ve been proud to give them. In addition, they will have greater access to a fully integrated health care network. It’s exciting that a rapidly-growing community like ours is now going to be able to benefit from one of the best and most trusted health care organizations in this country.”

CGRMC sought bankruptcy protection and the acquisition plans were announced in December 2013 when Banner Health agreed to provide interim funding as needed for CGRMC to continue regular operations until completion of the acquisition. Federal regulators then approved the comprehensive plan for acquisition in mid-May. Once the acquisition is complete, Banner Health will operate 25 hospitals with two in Pinal County, including Banner Ironwood Medical Center in Queen Creek.

“We’re excited and honored that Casa Grande Regional Medical Center is becoming part of the Banner Health family,” said Becky Kuhn, Banner Health Arizona East Region president. “Our goals and visions in terms of priorities, patient care and service have been synonymous from the very beginning. We look forward to serving the residents of Casa Grande and the surrounding communities with a focus on clinical excellence and innovation.”

Banner Health is one of the largest, nonprofit health care systems in the country. The system currently manages 24 acute-care hospitals, the Banner Health Network and Banner Medical Group, long-term care centers, outpatient surgery centers and an array of other services including family clinics, home care and hospice services and a nursing registry.
