Wednesday — or leap-year day — the delivery rooms at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center were truly leaping as four babies were delivered.

Sahveign Brielle Jennings, weighing in at 7 pounds, 9 ounces, 19 inches long, was born 5:20 p.m. to Maricopa residents Chelsey Brielle Jennings and Cameron Martinez.

The first and only boy born Feb. 29 arrived at 6 a.m. Kevin Martinez Harris is the third child of Maria Martinez and David Harris, of Eloy. He was also the largest of the four babies to be born, weighing in at 9 pounds, 15 ounces and measuring 22 inches. Kevin was delivered by Dr. Ann Terai of Sun Life Center for Women and Children.

Two other baby girls were born later that evening along with Sahveign at 6:15 and 7:57 p.m., and all delivered by Dr. Philip Ivey of Southwest Center for Women’s Health.

The second baby girl, Makayla Faith Perez, is the daughter of Lisa Villescaz and Fernando Perez of Casa Grande. She weighed 5 pounds, 7 ounces and was 18 ½ inches.

Both Sahveign’s and Makayla’s mothers were sent to the hospital following a routine check-up during which the physician determined they were in labor and should proceed to the hospital.

The final baby girl Aliyah Miguel, daughter of Susana Perez and Christopher Miguel of Arizona City, was the smallest baby of the day, weighing 5 pounds and 3 ounces; she was 17 inches. Thursday was the family’s second trip to the hospital, as they had come in the night of the 28th and were sent back home as she was not ready to deliver.
