The program will cover digital screening mammograms for women who qualify. Women with areas of concern or who receive abnormal results will be aided through the process of further testing to determine a diagnosis.

Additional diagnostic testing covered by the grant includes digital screening mammograms, breast ultrasound, and breast biopsy.

To qualify and register for an exam through this grant, patients may call the breast care coordinator at 520-381-6744.

“Since it is estimated that 19 percent of the population in Pinal County is uninsured, programs like this one may be the only way these women have of protecting themselves from undetected breast cancer,’’ said Rebecca Fleuret, Breast Center coordinator.
