City holding meetings on major General Plan amendments

The city of Maricopa will be conducting four public meetings for the consideration of major amendments to the city’s General Plan.

To promote increased public participation, an initial open house will take place on Aug. 21 at Global Water Center, 22590 N Powers Parkway. Additional meetings will be held on September 4, September 18 and October 2. All meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held at Global Water Center.

At the open house, information will be available and community members may ask questions concerning the process and provide written comments concerning any of the requested amendments.

There will be no formal presentations and city staff will not be making any recommendations at these meetings.

Public comments received during these meetings will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission and to the City Council. Community members unable to make the scheduled meetings can still supply written comments on the proposed amendments.

Comments should be submitted in writing to City of Maricopa, Development Services Department, Attn. Kazi Haque, 45145 W Madison Avenue, Maricopa, AZ 85239. All public comments must be received on or before October 7 and should include name, address, telephone number and signature.

Information about the proposed amendments is available at City Hall or on the city’s official website, www.maricopa-az.gov. The City of Maricopa has received three applications for major amendments to the Maricopa General Plan. The applications are available to be reviewed at City Hall, 45145 W. Madison Avenue.
