Community of Hope turns three

40

On Sunday, Sept. 21, Community of Hope church celebrated a birthday – its own.

The church held its grand opening service on Sept. 18, 2005, so this year it is three years old. In order to commemorate the event, the church family held a tailgate breakfast before services, featuring food, fun and conversation.

Community of Hope’s family has actively participated in many community events. In addition to movies in the park every month or two, they’ve hosted the Kids Zone at both the Salsa Festival and Founders Day. This year they will host the Founders Day kids’ bike parade.

The church’s living nativity has provided enjoyment for both young and old during the holiday season when church members also sponsored children through Project Angel Tree. Their Easter Eggstravaganza drew nearly 1,000 children this year.

“I want to thank all of you that have been a part of our community and poured much of your energy and time into our church this far into the journey,” Pastor Rusty Akers said.

Community of Hope services each Sunday, at 9:30 and 10:45 a.m., are held at Pima Butte Elementary School.
