Contractor cuts fiber, service for Orbitel customers

Orbitel Communications experienced an outage beginning about 8 a.m. today when a contractor cut its fiber at Honeycutt and Porter roads.

John Schurz, Orbitel’s president and general manager, said the incident affected most Orbitel subscribers south of the railroad tracks and digital channels being sent to Sun Lakes and SunBird from Maricopa.

“Our tech team jumped into action to get the fiber repaired and had everything back up about 2:30 p.m.,” he said.
