County zoning ordinance amendment needs public input

77

The county’s planning and development staff will be holding informal meetings to seek public comment on a proposed amendment to the Pinal County Zoning Ordinance.

This will be residents’ chance to voice an opinion on an amendment to the current zoning ordinance, which has not had any major updates in nearly 50 years.

In the past year, the Board of Supervisors has approved nine priority ordinance amendments to address pressing zoning issues. The purpose of the current amendment is to modernize the ordinance and to meet the citizen goals that came from the recently completed Comprehensive Plan update.

Meetings will be held on the following dates:
• Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m.  Focus of this meeting: residents and property owners
• Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. Focus of this meeting: the development community

Both meetings will be held at the Pinal County Governmental Complex in Florence: 31 North Pinal Street, in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Room of Building F, which is a one-story building behind the historic Florence Courthouse. Directional signs to the EOC will be posted.

A copy of the draft amendment and additional information can be found online.
