Dignity Health Urgent Care is opening in Maricopa on April 29. Located at 20750 N. John Wayne Parkway, the center will be staffed with 12 to 15 medical personnel and have four exam rooms and one each triage, observation and procedure room.

A Maricopa Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting is planned for April 19 and an open house 10 a.m. to noon April 20, featuring tours of the center, free health screenings, food, a bounce house, face painting, Radio Disney, live entertainment and prize giveaways.

Members of the public are invited to click here to register for the event and receive a free first-aid kit by mail. Mayor Christian Price said the center will provide a wide range of benefits.

“This is truly excellent,” Price said. “(Dignity Health) is going to be offering so much to the city and that helps keep people local. This center is a good start to our economic recovery plans.”

The city also is home to Sun Life Family Health Center, Banner Health Center and Maricopa Urgent Care, among other medical providers.

Micah Miranda, the city’s director of economic development said in an email, Dignity Health “will provide jobs and opportunities for residents to source services in their community, which broadens the tax base and increases the quality of life for all.”

Dignity Health, formerly Catholic Healthcare West, operates three other urgent-care centers throughout the Valley.

Maricopa resident Merry Grace said having such a facility in the city is a boon to her active family.

“As a parent to three boys who are involved in sports, and two are asthmatics, we sometimes cannot get into Chandler to see our doctors the same day as we need to,” she said. “Having options here in town for an urgent care that will accept our insurance, have reliable physicians and medical staff, have medical equipment on site such as X-rays, and all around dependable, efficient and friendly staff will be great to have for our family.”

Dignity Health’s Ahwatukee site director Jean Dorame, an RN, who also will be in charge of the Maricopa urgent care, said health-care workers at the clinic “can see and stabilize patients, then transfer them to the appropriate facility, cutting out the middleman and saving emergency personnel time.”

The center will be open noon to 9 p.m. daily. Physicals for athletics, children’s camps and schools will be provided for $25. Outpatient laboratory and radiology services will be provided along with treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

“We also provide a Call Ahead Care Program,” Dorame said. “Patients can call anytime after 7 a.m. and wait for their appointment from the comfort of their homes. Once a doctor becomes available, we’ll call the patient and they can skip the waiting room.”
