More than 200 Maricopa residents turned out for the Desert Sun Performing Arts Fiesta Dinner this past weekend.

In addition to a Mexican dinner, attendees at the event bid on a multitude of silent auction items and watched performances by Desert Sun Performing Arts dancers.

“We had a fabulous turnout and are thankful for all the support of the community,” said DSPA owner Ceylan Gentilella.

The more than $2,000 raised from the event will support the DSPA Gems, a non-profit organization with a mission of providing high quality dance education and performance opportunities for Arizona and, specifically, Maricopa children, regardless of their ability to meet financial commitments.

This encompasses all programming offered at Desert Sun Performing Arts, including, but not limited to, Inspire (a unique program for special needs children), competition and recreational dancers.

A portion of the money raised will also go to the Maricopa food bank.
