Early voting for the primary election begins this week in Maricopa

Registered voters can get to the front of the line at the polls by voting early in the September 2 Primary Election.

Pinal County’s elections department is providing an election site at 44626 West Garvey (the former justice court) for early balloting from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, 14, and 21, and on Saturday, Aug. 9.

Maricopans are being asked to consider 19 candidates for nine different county offices. Residents will also be electing a District 23 state senator and state representatives.

Early ballots may be requested now for the General Election on Nov. 4, although the first day for early voting will be Oct. 2.

Early ballots can be requested in one of four ways:

1) Send your name, birth date and mailing address (if different from your home address) to the Pinal County Recorder at P.O. Box 848, Florence, AZ 85232.
2) Visit one of the Pinal County Recorder offices located in Apache Junction, Casa Grande or Florence. Offices are open from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
3) Call the Pinal County recorder at (520) 509-3555 and give your name, birth date, and mailing address (if different from your home address).
4) Apply for an early ballot online at http://pinalcountyaz.gov/Departments/Recorder.

The last day to register to vote in the General Election is Oct. 6. Registration forms are available at the Maricopa library, city hall, and at county and state offices.
