Cat cause of power outage

Many Maricopans woke up – or maybe didn’t – to a power outage yesterday morning thanks to an unlucky feline.

According to Electrical District No. 3 spokesman Jim Hartdegen, 4,000 meters were affected by the 3:30 to 5:15 a.m. outage, which was caused by a cat that got into a transformer near Porter and Honeycutt Roads. The cat electrocuted itself and did not survive the incident.
