Eric Thomas Wright, 27, of Maricopa, was arrested Friday afternoon after shooting at a vehicle with his 1-year-old son and girlfriend inside, according to the Maricopa Police Department.

No one was injured in the incident, which occurred at approximately 4:35 p.m., though two witnesses were nearby when the shooting occurred.

Wright was reportedly in a passenger car with his son, girlfriend and the girlfriend’s brother at the Arby’s on John Wayne Parkway when he reportedly “became disorderly” and was asked to leave the vehicle.

Wright got out and walked to the driver side and, after pointing a 9 mm handgun at the girlfriend’s brother, who was driving, started beating the window with the gun.

The brother drove away with the baby and girlfriend still inside the car but, as they attempted to escape, Wright fired one round towards the vehicle.

Police said he left the scene on foot and hid the gun nearby.

Officers recovered the weapon when two witnesses, unrelated the incident, told police which direction Wright ran in.

He was arrested without incident and booked on three counts of aggravated assault with a weapon, three counts of disorderly conduct with a weapon (domestic-violence related) and two counts of endangerment.

Wright told police where the gun was and officers were able to recover the gun and the magazines.
