The Maricopa Unified School District will hold a Vaping Informational Meeting for parents, students, and community members on Monday, April 8, 2019 from 6 – 7:00pm in the PAC.  The goal is to educate students and families on the consequences and dangers of vaping, which is now categorized as an epidemic amongst high school students by the United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

The meeting will feature presentations from MHS School Resource Officer Logan Szczepaniec, on the legal ramifications and the health effects of vaping which is currently affecting our community and students.  Other presenters include, representatives from the Attorney General’s Office and Pinal County Juvenile Probation Office.

This increasingly popular and dangerous trend may be impacting your child and/or their friends, as vaping happens quickly and discreetly with one device oftentimes being shared by many students.  Devices are sometimes disguised to look like USB drives, lipsticks, or pens.  Parents, students, and community members are invited to attend the meeting to learn how to recognize, prevent, and have conversations with your children about vaping.
