Voting starts for Father of the Year

Nearly 60 dads have been nominated in the 2012 InMaricopa Father of the Year contest sponsored by Maricopa Ace Hardware.

Read about dads who make “huge” breakfasts of pancakes – with and without fillings, have tea parties with daughters and others who forgo sleep to spend time with their kids.

Children, wives, mothers-in-law and others have nominated special dads ranging from a teenage dad who did not bail on his family to a stepfather who stands at the ready to help his adult stepchildren.

Here are comments from just a few of the nominators: 

“Even though he makes me eat all those green vegetables that I don't like and makes me go to bed at bedtime, I know he loves me.”

“My dad is a strong hearted man, with a stern look but a warm heart.”

“Even if he doesn't win this contest, he is their Father of the Year!”

“He is a generous soul and asks for nothing in return.”
