Dad could win Father’s Day prize package

InMaricopa and Maricopa Ace Hardware are teaming up to give three Maricopa dads one heck of a Father’s Day.

Whether dad prefers spending time on the patio, in the pool or tinkering in his garage, there’s a prize package for him in the 2012 Father of the Year contest.

Starting today, by visiting our contest page, you can tell the world who you think is the greatest dad. He must live in Maricopa. Nominations will be accepted until 3 p.m. June 8.

Nominations will then be posted on our website and you can start voting for your favorite father.

Winners will be announced June 15.

Mike Richey, who owns Maricopa Ace Hardware, is donating the prizes, and says it’s just the thing to do for fathers.

“I lost my father many years ago and Father’s Day is a time of remembrance of a really special guy,” he said. “That’s it for me.”

Richey has two daughters of his own, who each have a daughter.
