One month into his new job as Maricopa’s city manager, Kevin Evans has initiated a major restructuring by letting go the city’s fire chief, William Kelleher, and planning and community development director, Amy Haberbosch.

“I firmly believe that this organization must be retooled to adjust for current market conditions,” Evans said in a written statement. “Additionally, I need to make sure that the City is able to sustain basic services to the public as efficiently as possible.”

According to the press release, exit negotiations began Friday with both directors. The functions of the positions have been reassigned, and the positions will be eliminated.

“My goal is to have a sustainable, responsive team,” Evans stated. “This will mean further restructuring, but it will ultimately provide the citizens with a highly-efficient local government.”
