Firefighters deliver

Order a pizza, get a firetruck. Don’t be alarmed if when opening the door this weekend, you see a Maricopa firefighter delivering pizza.

The firefighters have not taken second jobs, nor are they pulling a practical joke. Instead, the Maricopa Fire Department will deliver four Domino’s pizzas this weekend as part of a nationwide campaign to help raise fire safety and awareness.

“This is a great way we can get help spread the word about fire safety,” said MFD spokesman Brad Pitassi.

Firefighters will swing by the local pizza hub Friday and Saturday nights, choosing two random pizza orders each night to deliver free of charge.

The pizza will not be the only thing the four lucky customers receive for free. Firefighters also will conduct a walkthrough of the customer’s home, offering fire safety tips, checking alarms and answering any questions related to fire safety.

“We are excited to work with Domino’s for this promotion,” Pitassi said.

This is the third year that Domino’s Pizza has partnered with local fire departments across the country and executed the firetruck deliveries of pizza and fire safety tips.
