InMaricopa News introduces you to the men and women who keep you safe

Officer Donnie Burnias

Department: Maricopa Police Department
City of origin: Born in Phoenix, raised in Maricopa
Residence: Chandler
Education: Arizona Post Studies and continual Law Enforcement training
Hobbies: Lifting weights and training dogs.
Years on the job: 10
Rank: Patrol Officer

Favorite part of the job:
There are multiple things I love about my job. I love patrolling the community and keeping it safe, I love how each day while on duty things can change in a moment, I love setting a good example for my peers, I love learning new things about my job and most of all I love helping others.

Least favorite part of the job:
Stopping the same person I have stopped once before and warned for the same traffic offence.  It makes me think what I could have done better to educate that person on the dangers their actions could have on the motoring community.

Scariest moment:
Anytime I hear a fellow officer call for backup on the radio, after doing this for 10 years now, I can here and feel the stress that person is feeling in that exact moment.

Bravest act you’ve witnessed:
I have seen this in other spotlight but it rings true. I see the bravest act every day I come to work and sit in squad briefing with my fellow squad mates.

What you wish all residents knew about your department/co-workers:
That we care about the residents of Maricopa and we try daily to make a difference in their community.

Exceptional act recently performed:
Locating a witness to a violent crime, which later led to the arrest of the person responsible for that violent act.
