Drivers cutting back on nonessential trips

A gallon of regular gas in Maricopa is about $3.90 and even higher in some places in the Valley.

Gas is cheaper in Tucson, but that’s quite a drive just to fill up.

In last week’s online poll, we asked readers how the high gas prices are affecting them.

Of the 268 who responded, 175, or 65 percent, said they are cutting back on nonessential travel.

Sixty-two people, or 23 percent, said they have made no changes in their driving habits while four, or 1 percent, said they have started carpooling and another four said they have started walking or bicycling.
