Grand opening at Wellness Oasis Center

Interested in yoga? Want to learn how to cook a dozen eggs using the heat of the sun? If you are, or if you’re just in the mood to listen to some cool jams from area band Kush County, then head on out to the Wellness Oasis Center this Saturday, Dec. 4.

Oasis, which is located at 48508 W. Huisatch Road, will host an open house from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. featuring live music, solar oven demonstrations, hula dance performances and more.

“We thought this would be an interesting way to introduce the community to our offerings,” said center owner Rita Schmidt.

Schmidt and her husband not only own the center, but also built the establishment from the ground up.

“The center is completely solar powered and constructed from strawbale,” she said.

While the Schmidts rely on the sun to power their business, their philosophy is to teach visitors of the center how to empower themselves.

“We want people to become more educated about their bodies and how to self heal,” Schmidt said.

Services offered at the center include stone massage therapy, oxygen sauna, infrared sauna, inversion therapy and nutritional microscopy.

In addition to the information and music presented at the open house, there will also be free food and non-alcoholic drinks, plus drawings for prizes.
