Grease is the word

Maricopa Community Theatre is excited to announce it has been granted permission from Samuel French to perform Grease, by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The show is a part of the summer Maricopa Teen Conservatory Theatre program and will be directed by Carrie Vargas.

Maricopa Teen Conservatory Theatre’s summer program’s sole purpose is to put teens though the process of creating strong character through performance. Student actors will participate in a five-week production intensive that will explore voice, movement and expression, character analysis and theatrical production. At the end of the program, students will perform Grease for the community. This will be a unique opportunity for students to perform a community theatre production. The cost of the camp will include some costuming, but actors will have to provide their own undergarments, socks/tights, shoes, hair and make-up supplies.

“I am so excited to have the opportunity to bring this show to the students of Maricopa. They will have such a wonderful and unique opportunity to perform this beloved show for the community. The community will be able to see the student talent that we have here,” said Vargas.

“Being granted the rights to this show is not an easy task and a huge honor for Maricopa Community Theatre and the community as a whole,” Vargas said. “I hope that any student interested will have the opportunity to come be a part of this experience. We also welcome scholarship donations from community members for those students that would like to participate, but might not be financially able. Anyone interested in donating, or who has questions can e-mail us at [email protected].”
