Pencil in Great Reads on daily planner

The other day, I was reading an article from one of my favorite columnists, businessman Harvey Mackay.

When I worked for Waldenbooks, his business books dotted the shelves and yours truly didn’t really care to read them. However, fate changed all that, when I rediscovered him via his weekly column when I moved to Arizona.

Each and every Monday, I look for his column and what I seek is not his business expertise but his inspirational essays and his illuminating profiles of some of the most interesting people not only in business but other careers as well.

Thanks to Mackay, I read and enjoyed his recommendation of Lou Holz’s autobiography Wins, Losses and Lessons.

I’ve learned a great deal from Mackay and what he refers to as his Mackay Morals. His most recent was a must for this new edition of Great Reads — “Open a book, open a mind.” How could I ignore this profound statement and not share it with you as Mackay is a strong advocate on the importance of reading daily.
