Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino employees volunteer 15K-plus hours

Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino employees surpassed their goal of volunteering 11,000 hours to give 15,737 hours last year.

Volunteers operate through Harrah’s HERO program in which employees and their families join to make noteworthy, visible contributions to the community by lending their time, skills, expertise and caring to dozens of volunteer projects throughout the community, according to a press release.

Last year, 29 departments at Harrah’s had more than 75 percent of its employees participate in a HERO activity – up 10 percent from 2012.

The casino also provided monetary and in-kind donations amounting to more than $30,000 to organizations such as the Area Agency on Aging’s DOVES® Program, March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, The Melonhead Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Against Abuse, Phoenix Indian Center and others.
