Think law enforcement doesn’t have to shop around for equipment? Think again.

A tactical supply store is opening this week in Maricopa that will sell law enforcement personnel anything from guns and holsters to body armor.
About a block off of John Wayne Parkway at 44870 W. Hathaway Ave., Suite 1 is a store called Arizona Law Dawgs.

Co-owners John Callaway II and his wife Jennifer started the enterprise in June 2012 as a home-based business, John Callaway said.

“As it grew, we decided to get a storefront,” he said. “A lot of law enforcement departments (give out) purchase orders and some cities (provide) officers with debit cards an allowance for uniforms and supplies.”

Callaway got the idea for the name of the store from a scene in the movie “Tombstone.”

“There’s a part in the movie when a bad guy says ‘There aren’t no law dawgs here’ and it sort of stuck with me,” he said.

He said he worked in retail management for several years.

“The corporate world was killing me and I had to get out,” he said.

He said he starting out selling law enforcement uniforms and later branched out into supplying uniforms for the Ak-Chin workers. The store also carries T-shirts, work boots and other items.

Callaway is licensed to sell guns.

“I grew up in Arizona and I am a real supporter of the Second Amendment,” he said. “I’d like to be a one-stop shop for law enforcement and the general public.”
