Maricopa police officers were dispatched to the 45900 block of W. Meadow Lane Saturday after a homeowner reported that he had come to the residence to continue to move in when he interrupted three male subjects inside his home burglarizing the residence. The homeowner exited the residence and called 9-1-1. The suspects were observed fleeing the residence out the back door.

Several officers responded to the area and conducted a search. Maricopa Police Officer Cory Figueroa conducted an on-scene investigation and was able to obtain information from witnesses that led officers to a home just two houses down from where the burglary occurred.

A male juvenile involved in the burglary was located and positively identified by the victim. The juvenile was arrested and later booked at the Pinal County Juvenile Detention Center on Burglary charges.

Maricopa officers, with the assistance of the Ak-Chin Police Department, searched the area for two other suspects and located an adult male subject, later identified as Derreck Raymond Gonzalez, hiding in a river wash south of the crime scene. Gonzalez, 18, was detained without incident and was positively identified by the victim as one of the suspects. Gonzalez was arrested and booked at the Pinal County Jail on Burglary charges.

Most of the victim’s property was recovered and police detectives are actively seeking the third suspect involved in this case.
